Context
The WWF St.Gallen commissioned a suitable and high-quality illustration for their invitation card for the WWF's 2025 General Assembly. The comedian Renato Kaiser was hired for the event, and they wanted him and the panda to be the focus of the illustration.
My Role
My contributions to this project included all the illustrations and the final layout. The graphic designer Linda Yong from atelierpetraschke came up with the layout concept.
Process
My creative process began with compiling the client’s vision, target audience, and goals into a mood board, where you can also find my research into their preferences for illustration style. I went on to sketch on paper and compiled a colour palette with earthy and natural tones. Then I illustrated the balloon animals in Procreate. After receiving some client feedback, I spent additional time refining their appearance to resemble a graphite illustration.

Result
The final layout shows off the specific animals that the WWF advocates for in a playful way. We played around with a spotlight effect and typography that has a fun character to it. We factored in readability, especially in the copy, to include older readers.
Reflection
This project was a dream to design, and the client gave me a lot of freedom in the process. Sometimes, fewer restraints actually make the project harder to execute. That wasn't the case for this one; my ideas were not lacking, since I'm passionate about this topic. I want to thank WWF for educating people about these animals and the threats they face in the wild.
