In a photography course I was tasked with creating a fictional poster for a company or a product of choice. The goal was to create a photomontage using different techniques like selections, masking and recolouring. The final product should convey a strong visual message and fit within set CI-rules.
My target audience was defined as younger smokers, who are at the start of their career. The goal was to show that the risks of smoking apply to younger people as well. To achieve a sickly look, I used hair and makeup. My hair provided a great challenge in making a selection and switching out the background.

We had access to a photostudio with a light box for product photography. I chose menthol cigarettes for their popularity, especially in younger circles.
The final step was creating the poster in InDesign. The Poster is successful in subtly conveying the message about smoking through the shadow. The observer will feel personally adressed by the eyes looking directly at them. It would also translate well to big formats in cities or roadside billboards.
